I got pranked. By a bird!
I live on the ground floor apartment. For ventilation I keep a small window open near my bedroom area (it's a "junior 1 Bedroom" so there's a separate bedroom, but no door to it-- just a curtain). Early this morning we were woken up by a distinct flapping noise. At first I thought it was a moth flying through the ceiling fan and I wanted to just go back to sleep, but then we heard a very distinct, very pronounced FLAPPING. We bolted out of bed and out of the room, not sure if it was a bat or a bird. But then we heard a chirp (a twitter?) from the outside, and an identical chirp (twat?) from the inside. My door goes right out onto the street, so I went outside to look in from the window and sure enough there was a small bird flapping around between the curtain and the window. He eventually hopped up and perched himself on the curtain rod (see below) where he would. not. move. Armed with my broom, I tried experimenting with different combinations of turning the lights and ceiling fan on and off in the bedroom and the living room but he wasn't moving. We hung out outside for a while not sure what to do but at some point we saw that it had left that spot but clearly not flown out of the wide open door. Running out of ideas, I went to the kitchen to get some bread to make a trail of crumbs leading to the door when all of a sudden, I looked up and it was perched on the doorjamb of the bathroom (which is off of my kitchen) looking right down on me. I screamed and ran outside like the kids in The Sandlot and as I turned around I saw it flapping its wings right towards me like the Ringwraith that it was, and then it flew right out.
Now I clearly have Avian Bone Flu.
